The country of Belize covers 8,867 square miles on the northeastern coast of Central America. This small country lies on the eastern or Caribbean coast of Central America, bounded on the north and part of the west by Mexico, and on the south and the remainder of the west by Guatemala. Belize is the only Central American country where English is the official language.

Though small, Belize boasts numerous Maya sites, a variety of nature reserves, the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, the world-famous “Blue Hole,” 3 of the 4 pristine atolls in the Atlantic Ocean, more than 200 sand islands, the world’s first jaguar preserve, and over 500 species of exotic birds.
